Official FLUL

@edu.ulisboa.pt account

Do this first

Without it you can't start your enrolment on Fénix. From 9am on 24 August you'll get an SMS with temporary credentials to activate it.

Gives you access to: Fénix, Eduroam, institutional email, Office 365, Moodle and other tools, plus ULisboa's social support and sports services.

Fénix

Your academic life, in one place

This is where you handle enrolment, course units, timetables, documents, grades and requests. Don't confuse it with Moodle.

1st-phase enrolment: 24 Aug 11am → 27 Aug. Standard workload: 30 ECTS/semester. Course groups are called "turnos" on Fénix — places run out, so prepare backup options. Mandatory units take priority over free electives.

Moodle

Course materials and announcements

Many lecturers post materials, announcements, tasks and submissions here. Not every course unit necessarily uses Moodle actively — check case by case.

Log in with your institutional account.

Student Card

Mandatory — but not in the way you might think

The ULisboa ID card is mandatory in its non-banking format. You don't have to open an account with CGD or use the banking option.

Request: Fénix → Personal Area → Identification Card → Send Data, authenticated with Chave Móvel Digital.
In-person desks: FLUL (Anfiteatro II corridor) 15–19 Sep · Rectory (near Aula Magna) 25 Aug–31 Oct, 10am–5:30pm. If you go in person, you get a temporary card straight away, already usable at the canteen.

Languages & class groups

Only relevant if you're starting a language

English always requires a placement test. German, Spanish, French and Italian may also require one, depending on level — check during enrolment prep.

"Turno" = the group/time slot for a course unit (what you'd normally call a class group). "ECTS" = credits, ~25–28h of work each, between classes and independent study — standard workload is 30 ECTS/semester.
Official FLUL

Sub23 pass & proof of enrolment

Also on Fénix

Proof of enrolment and the documentation for the Sub23 transport pass are requested in the "Requisições" (Requests) module in your personal Fénix area.

See the full enrolment step-by-step on Fénix
1–3ULisboa Login → Centralised Authentication → FLUL logo → username and password
4"Enrol → Enrolment Processes" → "Start Process"
5Attach a passport-style photo (Forms → Documents → Upload → Finalise Documents)
6–9Fill in and confirm: personal/contact details, household information, prior qualifications, health/special needs
10–11Answer the "Discovering ULisboa" survey and the mobility information
12Choose your regime — full-time or part-time (up to 30 ECTS for the year)
13–15Enrol in your course units and choose class groups, separately for each semester
16See your tuition amount and the enrolment summary
17Choose whether to share your data with CGD, for the Unified ID Card (Caixa IU protocol)

⚠ Final step: click "Confirm Enrolment" and print the Comprovativo (mandatory) — but the card is only issued after you hand in the Modelo 43 form in person. Doing everything online doesn't replace that in-person step.

Simple as that

How mentoring works

1

You request a mentor

You fill in the form voluntarily — 2 minutes.

2

We match you

The team assigns you a mentor from your course.

3

Your mentor reaches out

A 2nd/3rd-year student supports you throughout the 1st semester.

It's free. It's voluntary. It doesn't replace the Faculty's official services. Estudos Artísticos is part of FLUL's 2026/27 Mentoring Programme.

How to study at Letras

Studying without a textbook

Use the course syllabus, reading list, lectures and Moodle materials as your map.

Note-taking

Organise by topic/concept — don't transcribe everything that's said.

Finding books and articles

The library + your course reading list + databases (EBSCO, JSTOR, MLA, Project MUSE).

Essay-style questions

Practise the structure: thesis → arguments → examples/texts → conclusion. And always check the citation style required by your lecturer.

Assessment at Letras is usually continuous — participation, tests, exercises, assignments, presentations — but always confirm with the lecturer of each course unit.

You're not alone in this

Support that's there for you

Don't know anyone yet?

That's completely normal

At Letras you don't necessarily have a fixed class group like at school — it's normal to meet different people in different course units, and settling in can take a little while.
